Vancouver residents may have their say next year on whether they think whales and dolphins should be held in captivity at the city’s Aquarium.
Vancouver Park Board commissioner Stuart Mackinnon will bring forward a motion at the July 19 parks board meeting suggesting that a non-binding plebiscite be held in 2011 to ask Vancouverites whether they are in favour of ending future containment of whales and dolphins in captivity, including the phasing out of existing cetacean exhibits at the Vancouver Aquarium.
